An exciting
and innovative project at Morecambe's music and community
arts centre, The Platform. The aim is to encourage people
with a disability to enjoy the wide and varied programme on
offer.
The Platform
is aiming to recruit a pool of volunteer guests. When a person
with a disability rings to book a ticket, they can book a
Guest Guide too. The Guide will accompany the disabled person
throughout the performance.
Guest
Guides will have an interest in the arts and a willingness
to share their enthusiasm. They will be admitted free of charge
to events when they are acting as a Guest Guide and receive
training, support and supervision from the 'Be My Guest' project
manager. This volunteering opportunity is totally flexible.
Volunteer guides register their interests and can decide whether
or not they would like to attend a performance.
